Well it's final as of February 1st we will no longer be store owners. So come celebrate with us one last time at 1008 main street where we have enjoyed so many good times over the last 12 1/2 years.Don't worry though the new owners will be renting Kris and I space so we will still have somewhere local to sell our wares. We are truly excited about the new year and there will be alot of JUNK adventures so don't be sad, change is good we keep telling ourselves and we couldn't have made it so many years with out the support of YOU all of our fabulous Amazing customers!

Ready set GO! Here we are at my house Friday morning all ready and rarin to go for our big trip to the Barnhouse Sale in Battleground.
This is my sweet friend Mindy with her adorable little Shasta making its maiden voyage. She's been working so hard getting her ready and it shows, new paint job and all!

This isn't a very good shot, but it's the only picture I got of my little shanty before my camera died. I had a great time seeing so many old friends and meeting so many new ones. We had lots of fun just hanging out at the trailers, but the BH sale was pretty wonderful too! It was a hot one in more ways than just the weather!

Fluffing the Nest
I know I'm not the only person thats too busy this summer to keep up on my blog so here's a quick update and a few pics. Hope everyone is having a SUPER FUN SUMMER!

WOW we've been having alot of FUN working and playing on the compound lately. Last weekend was our 4th Annual Field Fest, I've posted pics here on my trailer blog.

WORK

Well I don't have a sign that says "WORK", but we've been doing alot of that too lately. Thats our new carport behind my sons VW. The real Deal McCoy and his boy Ben built last week. We are in desperate need of more storage on the compound and this will be another spot to house a vintage trailer until we get our new metal barn built. After that i'm thinking it could be a sweet little covered patio area where I can hold some seasonal sales & get out of all this rain we keep having here in western Washington!

It was far from warm, but the sun came out the other day for a few short hours
Just enough time to hang out the fabulous old linens I just unearthed at a hoarders sale

My garden leaves alot to be desired, but we literally havent had a full day of sunshine since before October! When they say it rains alot in Seattle they aren't kidding! Every month we are setting new record for the most rainfall! I know it could be worse with all of the horrible tornadoes in the midwest and the record snow fall back east this winter. I just wish we could all get a few nice pleasant 75 degree days!

Today was a horrible, humiliating, mortifying day for me!
I am a hardworking mother, wife, business owner, junk dealer. I don't smoke crack, steal, or do anything that is not legal!
So....deap breath... Let me back up a bit. I'ts been six hours and I'm still reeling from a very emotional thing that happened to me earlier today. This is how it goes.... I've been out junkin, found a neat old Procter and Gambles clock for a friend took it to her house had a bite to eat and a cup of coffee then off I go to finish my rounds. I'ts my only free day this week to get in some good junk hunting and I'm a little weather blown, wearing my ripped jeans and having to drive my husbands old mazda, because he needed my truck to go pick up a carport. So ..deep breath.. oh geeze i 've got to get ahold of myself!
So I'm heading to Pacific Run Antique Mall out in Tacoma multy tasking as usual, my cell phone rings and it's one of my customers I'm just about to pull into the mall parking lot and a state patrol drives by me and see's I'm not wearing my seat belt quickly wips a U turn and blue lights follow me into my antique mall parking lot. Here I am right in front of the store thinking omg how embarrassing right? all these people I know are watching me get a ticket! Oh well it's my fault and I'm ready to suffer the consequences right? Mr 25 year old officer asks for my I D and registration, of course I'm in my husbands car so I'm not so familiar with where things are. I open the glove box and everything falls out onto the floor. I can't find the insurance card which I new he had , because I just paid my $425 monthly bill!. Well I find it after what seems an hour (maybe two minutes) he steps away fro my car for about two seconds and comes back and asks me to step out of the car. Step OUT OF THE CAR??? why??? O.K now I'm completely confused? I'm not wearing my seatbelt? I wasn't speeding, my cars not stolen ? wtf? This young very young nice looking police officer is looking at me really intensly? He asks me "what have you been drinking?" What? Nothing! Oh I just had a cup of coffee. He says" what are you doing here?" I'm shopping! wtf? He asks" where did you just come from" I don't know mars??? wtf? ok my friends house! Mr officer asks if I have any weapons on my body, OMG I am ready to have a panic attack wtf? NO NO weapons! Mr young officer takes me to the edge of the hiway and asks me to perform a sobriety test. Feet together head back count to 30 with my eyes closed. I was on a sloped parking lot and this wasn't as easy as I thought it would be, so I start my test he say's "put your head back further!" I'm about to fall over my feet are way too close together and my balance isn't so great with my eyes closed, but I manage to keep it together , because at this point I am really fearing I'm going to JAIL in downtown Tacoma! I complete the test and he tells me to look at him and asks" how did you know you counted to 30?" WHATTTTTTT???? Is this a trick question?? OMG! One onethousand two one thousand and so on. Still not good enough for this guy he asks " what kind of drugs are you on?" Huh? what? I'm not a crack addict? I take lipitor and prilosec! Well he says 'thats a drug", but I say "not a MIND altering drug!!!! WTF? Ok I am shaking now I'm going to the hooskow for sure! Can it get any worse? Well I didn't think so, I've passed my tests (I think) answered his STUPID questions, but no he's not done HUMILIATING me yet in front of a whole crowd of people. Now I have to follow his pen test back and forth back and forth. Done. Nope "why are your eyes so dialated? Huh? what the ???
Now he tells me to go back and sit in my car. I look in the mirror, my eyes are NOT dialated! What is going on? I hurry up and call my husband , because I know I'm going to jail and I may never see my family AGAIN! so I better let them know whats happening. Now he runs my drivers licence, now? why not earlier? before he made me get out of the car? maybe he would have seen I didn't have a rap sheet, that actually I have never in my life had a ticket. an accident, nothing! He comes back gives me a ticket for no seatbelt, never says thanks for your understanding, or sorry to put you through that mam or even have a nice %^$#ing day! I've never been harassed like this before. I've actually been pulled over several times in my life for things like a headlight out or my tabs being expired and not knowing it etc.. and always had the most respectable , decent police officers that treated me like a human being, not a P O S criminal!
So I get home, tell my husband to take me out for a drink (that normally I wouldn't have had on a Wed. night, but OMG this really freaked me out! All I could think of is this is going to be my word against his and he is so out to prove I'm a drunk driver! So yes I will always wear my seatbelt (I usually do, but I do admit I was lacking judgement) Wow sorry I had to get that off my chest!

This is Tiffany's daughters truck that was the centerpiece of the barn where we had our Terrie Brush class. Everything was decorated "Tiffany style" so very dreamy!

The tables were beautiful and the treats even better!

Umm i'm told I have to protect the identity of the Friday night Hillbillie's. Friday night Tiffany held a "Hillbillie party" at her house. I have some great blackmail photo's if I ever need them:)) I'm pretty sure some of you can guess who this toilet paper belongs to!

Back to the Teri Brush class, here is my little soldered birdcage I managed to make. This was my second time only soldering and let me tell you it hasn't got any easier!

The Funky Junk Sisters brought in a GREAT Crowd! Most of the morning you could'nt hardly get through my booth!

Here's a pic of my little tiny booth (i'm not use to that) it was really a double, but my happy camper took up most of my space
I decided to add the crochetted lace bedspreads on the awnings at the last minute, everyone loved it!

This is a little more fufu than I usually do, but the ol gal was really taking to the fluff, so I just ran with it!

Even a little lingerie hangin out to dry, oh well if my dirty laundry is going to get aired I might as well be the one airin' it!

Stumbled onto this awesome restraunt with the hubs Friday night! I'm sure alot of you Oregonians know about McMennamins?

Wow did we ever have a FUN FUN time at the Junk Salvation Show in Oregon!

My Hubby went with me this time and we had a blast. The show was Fabulous! and the people were even better than fabulous!

I got to see so many friends from Oregon and I met so many super duper new friends! Loved the happy happy people who loved my "happy lil camper"!. Everything just went so smoothe which doesn't usually happen, usually there is some small glitch, but not this time! I think it was probably, because I had the master of all trades with me ( except decorating) thank god he knows better than to go there!:)

Thank you to everyone who was just so super sweet and complimentary about my little camper. I don't know what it is about these little vintage trailers, but they really reach out and touch people in a way that I have never seen or felt before. They just make me and so many of you HAPPY!

LOADED TO THE GILLS For Junk Salvation!

Well today was suppose to be all about packing up for the show, but something even more exciting was going on on the compound. The compound is our property that has 4 seperate houses all occupied by my relatives, my brother, my dad and my son and then our house.
So you see there is ALWAYS something going on around here and today was no different. As alot of you know my mom passed shortly before Christmas, which has left me with my dad adjusting to life alone next door.
Well, you see this sweet Harley I'm on? This is the newest member of the compound. Dad, sweet ol' 81 year old Dad bought himself a "hobby" today. To keep himself busy he says. To keep ME busy worrying about him , but i've got to tell you that bike gave me a feeling I haven't had in about 35 years when I used to ride dirt bikes as a teenager.OMG am I going to have to get me a Harley to keep an eye on my dad? I loved it and I'm going to have to sell a ton of junk to get me one of these sweet bikes!!

So 9:00p.m tonite in the dark we finally get the junk all loaded and strapped down.

I sure hope the little tin can can handle the load for the Junk Salvation show! I tried reall y hard to pack "light" but you know I wouldn't be a true blue junk girl if I didn't fill every last inch of the truck and trailer!

A new year and the ideas are running rampant through my overloaded brain! This is going to be a year of MAJOR changes! I have soooo many ideas and plans for this year I'm starting to scare myself!!:)
New Years day was the beginning of HUGE changes at the store , we have been working non stop for the last week to stir things up a bit and keep our customers happy. I will get some pictures posted soon on the stores blog .

Well it's been a roller coaster of a year for me, the good the bad and the ugly. This year had it all including the sad. The good would DEFINATELY have to be our big trip to Texas at the end of September! The bad, well the economy of course, being in retail these past couple of years has been MORE than just a challenge! The ugly, mmm rough times with the fam, the oh so disfunctional fam! And the sad would definately be losing my mom right before Christmas.

Reflecting now on the whole year it has probably been one of the toughest in my 46 years on this earth, but through it all I tried to always remember to look at the glass half Full and in the end I'm so glad the little voice inside my head kept telling me "everything happens for a reason". The pain and agony of sybling rivalry the aging and chronic illness of a parent, the struggles of friendships and just the everyday sh*#t that we All have to deal with!

I've learned alot through it all, the pain and anguish has taught me to give forgiveness to those I've been denying, to not sweat the small stuff, to hug and tell my children and the ones dearest to me how much I love them and that random acts of kindness can change someones life! It's changed mine! I am so thankful for it all, the good the bad, the ugly and the sad it has made me much more sensitive to other peoples problems and so much more thankful for what I DO have then what I don't!

What a beautiful night we had at our Christmas open house! Thanks to all who came out and braved the driving rain and the horrible traffic to not only celebrate this wonderful season , but to also support us, our store and our passion to keep bringing you beautiful treasures from days gone by!

This is my sister Mae, she was so much fun and sooo much help when we were slammed in our booth with the mad rush of shoppers friday night.

Lots of empty hangers! The slips and crinolines were a big seller.

I really didn't get very many good pictures of our booth, brought the camera, but fogot the camera card! This is a shot after it was pretty picked over all the fabulous french chairs sold, the lockers, the sofa, vanity's , benches and LOTS of smalls! We had to put up folding tables to hold items after our furniture sold!

I love this rack, we jus got it and it was only one of a few pieces that didn't sell so I was kind of glad we will be able to take it to the shop.

One of the Highlights of the show my Sweet trailer buddy Sandy who is battling cancer herself was crowned the 1st annual Trailer Trash queen during Friday nights breast cancer fundraiser
We LOVE you Sandy you are a super cute trashy trailer queen!

Heres a shot of our "trailer" booth, we had alot of vintage campy stuff that was really a hit! Sorry to tell all of you who have been inquiring about the Baby Shasta trailer, but she has been SOLD to our very sweet friend Mindy! Baby Shasta is going to have a great new home and I'm sure we are going to be seeing her around the trailer circuit!

The Funky Junk RV park outside the show was so much fun , we had beautiful weather and everyone really enjoyed touring all of the trailers!

Thanks to everyone for coming out and supporting your local dealers, it's alot of hard work and we're not getting any younger, so remember YOU are the ones that determine whether or not these shows continue being succesful by your continued support and spending your hard earned money locally with so many small business entrepeneurs that love what they do , but can only keep doing it because of YOU!

Get ready cause here we come with truckloads of fabulous junk! This is a super fun show with TONS of fabulous junk! This year we are even bringing one of our vintage trailers for sale. You will find us on he south side of the building on the south wall about midway in booth numbers 8,9,and10. Look for the little red 1964 Shasta Compact with wings! Theres also going to be a vintage trailer rally out in the parking lot so stop by and say "HI"!

I ran around like a crazy person today getting ready for our BIG Texas trip! We leave early Friday and are staying til the following Wednsday. 4 of us girls getting away from the hubby's, the kids, the laundry., the dogs, and most of all the SHOP!
I know I shouldn't sound so excited about that, but the fact is it's taken us 11 years to make this trip a reality. When we first opened the store eleven years ago we had BABIES! Now most of us have empty nests for the very first time, I still have my Molly girl home she is still only 16 and 1/2 ( she let me know today it was her 6mo. driving anniversary) but she like most teenagers her age are gone from sun up to sun down, so I can finally feel like I am an adult person again for the first time in 23 years! I'm a big girl I'm leaving on a jet plane! With other big girls, we can just worry about what WE want to eat, and Drink whatever and I do mean whatever we WANT!
We don't have to run homework up to the school or find the lost car keys. No cleaning up after the dogs, the kids, the hubs! O Geeze I might not come back! :) JK :)

Our first annual Labor Day Trailer Rally!

Here I go off to my first sleepover!

Sometimes the moons just align, the weather man is wrong and you just throw all caution to the wind! Thats what happened this weekend our on again off again trailer rally actually happened as if we had planned it for months!

Taken a break after getting our cottages set up.

And the crowds kept growing to tour the trailers and hang out at the campfire, listen to Taylor on the banjo eat smores and laugh all night!

It was the first time for three of us girls to do a real overnighter in our trailers and I've got to tell you I slept like a baby!

Kris even made it with her new 57 scotsdale her hubby had just picked up that day. ( the tail of it on the right)

And the end to a happy weekend the proud new happy campers Bob and Julie from Whidbey Island drove all the way to Puyallup to buy Pinky our 59 fireball. Hated to see her go , but so glad she will have such great new parents! Still recooperating from all the fun at our annual Field Fest Sale a couple of weeks ago!

We do this every year in July, it's just a big ol' fashioned garage sale, but in our field and this year it was extra fun with four of our vintage trailers.
Neat and tidy before we hauled out all the JUNK!

This is the sweet not so innocent “Sammi” my 4month old very expensive computer destroyer! I’m on my brand new computer tonight thanks to this little darling! You see she mistook my computers cord for her chew toy. Not a big deal you say, well it should have only been a $50 cord, but apparently the new cord I bought at best buy was too strong for my hp ( even though it said it was compatible with my model) long story short the powerful cord blew my mother board! So three weeks later I’m starting from scratch. I’m not even sure how this post is going to look, because I’m using this brand new program from my picture file to post to my blog it sounds pretty spiffy, I hope it works!

I guess I've been in denial! I really do depend on my computer way more than I thought! This being without one is starting to make me crazy, and worst of all I'm falling behind on things!UGH!

My oh my its been quite a day! I wish I had taken some pics of the MEGA load of stuff we had to cram in a 16ft Penske! I will try and take some pics when we get to Spokane. I think we packed everything but the kitchen sink this time! We are leaving first thing in the morning, Kris, wendy and Kari will be at my house by 9:00am. its about a 5 1/2 hour trip. Kari is bringing her sweet little Corvette vintage trailer and she will be taking our suitcases and a few other things we just couldn't cram in to Mr Penske!Thank you Kari!
So the caravan of sisters on the fly will be camping out again at the spokane pitcher and bowl riverside campground, Kari says she thinks about 30 of the sisters will be there with their Fabtabulous vintage trailers! wish I could take Thelma, but she isn't quite road ready yet.Hope to see lots of you at the show!

Thanks to the Funky Junk Sisters for putting on this fun filled show!Besides all the Fabulous Junk, One of the Main attractions was the Fabulous Junk Queen Ms. Sue Whitney! We had sooo much fun hanging out with the little dynamo junk star! She's super nice, and super funny, she had some great stories to tell and it was really a pleasure getting to know her. She is a huge dog lover and took right to my new little baby lilly, which just happens to be Sues Jack Russells name.

I love love love this bed, but nobody bought it?It was only$150 is that too much??? I guess you could go to Ikea and get one for $149, but I prefer the old and to recycle not reproduce, Grama would be proud!
Another great attraction at the show was The Sisters on the fly with their with their super cute little vintage trailers, this one belongs to Kari.

Thanks to ALL of you who came out for the Garden Party! It was a HUGE success and we all had soooo much fun getting ready, decorating, rearranging adding all the pretty flowers and most of all having so much fun with so many of our WONDERFUL loyal customers!

Breaking news just in from the Funky Junk Sisters! Sue Whitney of Junk Market Style is coming to Puyallup for the third annual FJS show!
How exciting is this! I'm really excited to meet Ms. Whitney, because not only do we have the love of Junk in common, but we were both in the same issue of Flea Market style Magazine last Summer! So I'm hoping for her to autograph my magazine copy! thats my living room!

Sue Whitney, who is well-known to viewers of HGTV’s Country Style, got her start in 2000 when she opened a workshop in Minnesota. There she created one-of-a-kind objects using vintage odds and ends she salvaged and brought home from flea markets and barn sales. In 2003 Whitney became editor-at-large of Country Home Magazine. Now, the author of four books has launched a magazine and makes frequent television appearances including the Today Show.

When Whitney joins the Funky Junk Sisters in Puyallup in May, she’ll be available to shoppers who’ve purchased special tickets. On Friday, for $75, fans will get a one-hour seminar by Whitney, as well as a chance to spend another hour doing some shopping with her and have her sign books.

I was fortunate enough to be able to spend a weekend with some of the most talented,inspiring and funny women ever! Let me start with the Queen of Dreams herself Miss Tiffany. She really is The Fancy FarmGirl! Her house was so beautiful, her attention to detail to make sure everyone felt at home was beyond, and her art studio to DIE for! Cookie the newest member to the family is only 4months old. I almost threw her in the backseat of my truck and ass napped her, she's soo darn cute!

So onto the Dream Girls Workshop
Saturday was the soldering day so we had to get down to business, because we had some great projects to make thanks to Miss Terri Brush the super talented soldering queen! And not to be left out lil' Miss Donna her right hand girl so helpful and sweet.

I know, I know ,what happenes in enumclaw stays in enumclaw:)Lisa brought us all super cute fork and flower card holders and Majai gave us beautiful hand made flower corsages on Saturday.Super sweet Auntie Joy made all of us these adorable folders with special little aprons inside! Can you believe that? Thank you Joy!
Jeanne of a B ushel and a Peck was one of the sweetest funniest girls I met. She even gave me the cutest sweater to wear after I had a run in with a chocolate Martini! Thanks jeanne:) and I kept forgetting to tell you I have a Benjamin too!
We celebrated Tammy and Isabels Birthday Friday night and ended up at the Yella Beak Saloon. Again what happens in Enumclaw must stay In Enumclaw.
I forgot my camera Friday night and didn't get very many good pictures with my $99 cannon sureshot so I would suggest you go to the pros for some better pics Kimberely (mimi charmante) Robin (Birdtweets), Isabel (Mason Douce) And I know many of the other dream girls will be posting what photos they can. Love this photo I took of Lisa and Robin!So this is the end result.
I wanted to use the 1/2 symbol, because Tiffany gave it to me. At the time I didn't know what it meant , but just as I'm posting this pic I realize the significance. I am one who try's to look at the glass "half" full and I know Tiffany does too. This sweet little charm will always remind me now of the girl I met a few years back. The one with the infectious laugh and the giving heart, the one who kept on kris and I to make a blog, we didn't, until she was kind enough to finally do it for us, and well now the rest is history... So for that Tiffany I am indebted to you!This is my soldered paper mache egg that I didn't quite get finished, but it pretty much sums things up!

White Wednesday Mantle redo

Congrats to Kathleen at faded charm for her 100th post and her year anniversary! She is the mastermind behind the fun filled White Wednesday!

Well I love my $20 Mantle. I carted this big ole mantle home 20years ago from a yard sale just down the road from my house. $20 bucks! Thats only a dollar a year! Talk about decorating on a shoestring budget! It's been white, then green, then white again. It had an old black ugly wood burning stove in it for years then a few years back we were able to put in a gas insert and two years ago we did the tile surround. ( which i would like to redo again maybe old ceiling tin or just paint the tiles?) I've had alot of fun with this piece!

My latest mantle decor is the fabulous big Ole' mirror in the awesome repurposed frame made out of old mouldings.
If your wondering how to put some extra character into your home you should seek out an old mantle, you don't need a fireplace you can just put it on a blank wall and put a bench with a pot of flowers in front of it. Or use it for a headboard like I did in my spare bedroom. Well enough about my mantle obsession.

Sweet Sixteen

Today is my baby's sweet sixteen Birthday. We actually celebrated all weekend long. Today we got the coveted drivers license, She got a 94% on her test and drove a stick shift,then we came home,she got in her car and drove off into the real world without me!
Now if thats not a look of a sixteen year old I don't know what is:)
Her little Vw golf that she's been waiting to drive for a year.
I love you!!!!! And dad got a million dollar umbrella policy on our insurance!

White wednesday a little white bedroom

First of all i hope Kathleen from Faded Charm is having a great time on her trip to California. I can't believe she is keeping the White Wednesday up and going during her week away.

Well remember this room? My dining room/ office. Well we've been doing a fair bit of remodeling again. We are converting the back half of the house into an apartment for my sister. So gone with the dining/office put up a new wall, paint , pack, Oh my I really had no idea I was such a pack rat! EEk big wake-up call!

This is the new bedroom for my sis. I love it so bare and simple all white and fresh paint. I told her she can sleep here , but she can't bring anything but her clothes!:) Ha she's a pack rat too so that will never happen.
She liked the old mantle in the other "spare" room that is now going to be my nephews room so we moved it here for her headboard. No bedding , curtains or blinds yet, but I will show some more pics when we put the final touches on.
This will be her little comfy living room, no more dining area, I guess she's going to have to get some t.v. trays! Someday I will explain all about the compound and show some pics of the other outbuildings occupied by other members of the family. It's a long story, but you see my husband has a thing about remodeling, sheds ,greenhouses, chicken coops and turning them into cozy little rentals.

White Happy wednesday

I LOVE Wednesdays! Yes all the fabulous blogs with their fabulous dreamy whites make Wednesdays grand, but the real reason I LOVE Wednesdays even more is LATE START! I know silly ha, but it really is the happiest day of the week. My daughter is a sophomore and that extra hour of sleep for a teenager is the difference between happy and crappy! Why after all of the studies done on teenagers that show they need more sleep in their teen years than ever, that the typical teen doesn't get to bed much before midnight, that their workload is bigger than ever, their hormones are raging out of control and they get in the most trouble between 3:00pm and 5:00 before us parents get home. WHY don't they let them start school later? Let the little kids who are up at 6:00a.m watching Scooby Doo go in earlier , they are up and rarin to go at the crack of dawn! They would get home earlier, then go to bed earlier? Then us parents could maybe get an hour to unwind alone. This doesn't seem unreasonable to me, maybe I'm just tired of getting up and making pbj's for the last17 years!

Well back to pretty white things. I am still loving these horse ribbons!
Chippy old windows are great for adding some architectural interest inside or out.
I love the old Iron and chippy paint on this school desk!

I thought I would join in on the fun of the Make it Monday blog the twice remembered cottage. Since my birthday is May 1st Mayday I have always been fond of Mayday baskets. I remember making little paper doilly baskets as a youngster and filling them with fresh picked flowers (the neighbors flowers) then putting the sweet little baskets on the neighbors porch. (thus not really stealing the flowers). Well I know it's only March and since I just started my Etsy store I wanted to put something on their that I created, so here's my little silver spring March basket.

Wow was it ever a beautiful pre-spring day! I can't tell you how much I need vitamin "d"!.Us Washintonians are pretty sun deprived! We are very fortunate with our mild winters, but that doesn't mean we get too many rays of sunshine.You can bet when we do we reallly appreciate it, people were so friendly today, it really is something that vitamin "d"!

Do I have OCD?

Sometimes I wonder why I change my furniture so often? When I look back on Pictures like this one.This table looked great didn't it? I can't even remember now why I took it out? I also forgot all about the old drysink pictured in the first photo to the upper right. Yep sold that baby about a year and a half ago! I'm actually contemplating getting rid of the old fir corner cupboard too. Well I guess its a really good thing I have a really bad memory!
I wonder what I was thinking? I know I wasn't thinking I want to put a tiny little round cafe table there, But that is what I did.I know I had a good reason, it's just my bad memory really. I have warned my children ahead of time that just about everything in the house is for sale hoping when they get older they aren't scarred for life. They pretty much know not to get too attached, really it isn't much of a problem yet as they don't really share my taste. I think maybe it's time for that old china cabinet to go to!:)

I love old white cupboards! These are some Fabulous pieces we have had in the shop.
This is absolutely one of my all time favorite pieces! Old tin top counter, with a bin drawer even!

This two piece cutie is in Wendys living room.
These were the coolest old white metal lockers with little tin drawers inside. They didn't last long at the shop!

This is an old english linen press I bought at auction about twelve years ago, I think it has been in every room in my house. presently holds my t.v.

Oops! I'm seriously messed up on my days. This is my first day home in a week after a busy antiques show, then right back to the store to get ready for our annual "Winter white Sale". Fresh Ivy's and white wicker are a great way to fill in those empty gaps after taking down all of the Christmas greens. Everything always looks so bear to me after packing up all the decorations.

Hey guys it's a doomy gloomy time in Western Washington.I really don't like January much, resolutions and rain! Rain rain go away!My diets already gone away twice!
I know most of the country has been in a deep freeze, but the snow is so pretty,, much prettier then the muddy gardens around here! I did these pics in black and white, because this is much more realistic than color. The only thing white I could find out in the garden was this white birch tree, which I love!
My little white patio set that is getting some good ol' weathering and a little rust from all the rain.
This dirty old iron chair is looking kind of lonely, so I guess hubby left the rakes by it to keep it company.

Too tired to to write much just posting some family pictures over the holidays.
My Molly girl, I don't think I was ever this skinny!(oops the bottle of smirnoff in the background is mine not Molly's) mmm. passion fruit with cranberry and a little shot of pineapple top it off with some sugar free redbull just a smidge! yum yum!

This was a fabulous silver tinsel tree (prelit) that I wanted so bad but my house doesnt have 9ft ceilings!

Heres my babys almost grown up Mol's almost 16, and Ben is almost 22, they are so cute! We had so much fun over Christmas break hanging out together! I really cherish the time we have together. More now I think then when they were little. I guess ,because they don't have to hang out with me, but when they choose to it makes me feel pretty lucky, cause I know when I was young I couldn't wait to get out of the house and away from my parents!

2010 WOWO!
Can you believe it? When I was a kid I thought we would be riding around in little space mobiles like the Jetsons in 2010! It just seemed soooo far away. ugh! where oh where does the time go?
Well OK it's here and I actually have a really good feelings about this upcoming year. 2009 was a rough one for alot of us and we made it! We had to get back to the basics, pull up the ol' boot straps and work ALOT harder for less, but don't you think it makes you appreciate things so much more when times are a little tougher, and against all odds you succeed.
Well I wish you all good health first and foremost,if you have your health you are already a rich person. Lots of love, happiness and success in whatever ventures you are taking on in the New Year!

White Wednesday project

We have had this old dutch-door sitting out in storage for about 5 years. I have wanted to do several things with it , but the Man never seemed too interested in my ideas. Now enter the sub freezing temps of our winter weather last week and I come up with a brain storm that could save us lots of money!!! Wooo Husbands love that! The back side of the house which is rarely used was just FREEZING all week so I said hows about we close that room off honey? Oh yeah great idea wifey! He goes out to the shed and comes back in with this cute door, I about fell over!So there you go girls just be practical and Ta-Da get yourself some remodeling done!

Ok I'm not quite sure what is going on in these parts, but I've never had ice cubes form in my toilet tank before! We have had a below freezing cold streak for about a week now.( I just heard we broke a 90 year record) Kind of unusual for these parts, this is Washington after all the state known for all it's rain! This is a picture of Snoqualmie Falls about 30 miles east of my house, it is a breathtaking sight!

Meet Buddy possibly the sweetest Mut I have ever met! He is Lindas (Luluz ) precious pup and he got to hang out with the girls today! He even put up with us trying to make him look even cuter than he already is in one of Lindas party hats.

My little booth 8x10 to be exact which is the smallest space I have ever done, but I liked it! Less hauling, easier decorating , cozy, and I didn't have to use my brain too much! Which is a really good thing after this crazy month of shows, holiday decorating and being sick off and on for weeks!

What a Super Fun Day with some Super Girlfriends! (And a few boyfriends). This show is loaded with Vintage Christmas, a mix of primitive furniture, jewelry and some great collectibles! If you didnt make it Friday night the show is open all day Saturday from 9to4.

This is a note my sister sent me today just out of the blue for no special reason at all. Nobody has ever sent me a letter quite like this. She is the most kind hearted person I know and I am so lucky to have someone who loves me like she does!

Well I guess we have a thing for not only white junk, but white junk haulers.
This is the original Junk Hauler a 1966 chevy which belonged to my father in law and he handed down to my husband about 15 years ago. I think this was the coolest junk hauler to date! We still own it, but it is now making the rounds at the car shows with it's big new hot rod engine! ( that I can no longer drive...something to do with a Hurst shifter?)
This is my current junk hauler, I do love my Tundra and power steering is a plus!

This little old white Toyota served me well for quite a few years it would always be a sight to be seen coming down the road with the heaping loads in the back!

It's been an exciting week for me!

Well you voted and we won!
We came in the top 5 of the best antique shops in the Northwest. 5Th place, it's not 1st, but we'll take it! King 5 actually lists only the top 5 so it's wonderful free advertisement for our store! Thank you to all who took TIME (which is very valuable I know) to vote for us! I am so very guilty of surfing blog land and not leaving all the comments that I would like to on so many of your wonderful blogs. It seems I'm always in a rush trying to surf as many sites as possible and getting a post up in a timely manner.

Why do we love this old stuff so much?

Today as I was outside with the power washer. I thought to myself why do we love this old stuff so much? As I was spraying down an old set of filthy gym lockers and a french door covered in dirt and grime. As I am spraying I'm discovering first a layer of celery green, then a beautiful robins egg blue and I stopped as I left just enough shabby white paint. I was so giddy with the discovery of so many lovely colors, and I just said to myself "this is so fabulous" ,but why Is it?
Why do we love this old junk so much? Do we want to go back to simpler times? Is it the old soul in us or the pure beauty of the patina of an item? Is it because it is made of real wood or metal, not plastic or particle board? Is it the many years it has been weathered or waxed, painted over and over, lovingly passed down through the family?
I think for me it is all of that, but I believe the biggest reason for me is the thrill of rescuing the item from the side of the street, a cold damp garage or a favorite store where it is just beckoning a new home. I'm still not sure why I prefer the old shabby paint or rusty metal, maybe, because it is a one of a kind item and nobody else has the exact same thing?
Whatever the reason, it has given us all who love this stuff from the wealthy collector to the poor college student a common bond that put's all the lovers of junk on the same level! I think that may be the greatest reason of all!

Happy Labor Day??? I don't know about you guy's, but I think Labor Day use to be the working mans holiday. "Holiday" being the key word here. I 'm thinking it's taken on a different meaning. We seem to always use this holiday weekend for some BIG project around the Compound. It always seems like we have to take advantage of the 3 day weekend and get triple done that we would on a regular weekend. Usually it's building something on the "compound" we live on. (That's a story I haven't touched on yet) but I will have to fill you all in on the McCoy compound one of these days!:) This little green house is the latest project on the compound and there is good reason to celebrate ITS FINISHED after nearly two years of weekend building!

Hope you all have a relaxing and safe labor Day and if you are "Laboring" like us remember to sit back and reflect on the fruits of your labor. I know that's the part that we really enjoy when we see what we have accomplished.

I am really enjoying the white Wednesday challenge (no not remembering how to spell Wednesday) but searching through my pictures to see what I can come up with. I seem to have misplaced my camera, so I am not out snapping anything new at the moment.

I absolutely adore my vintage chandelier with the old original discolored white cardboard candle covers.

At home and at the shop I love to put white flowers in any kind of container, here is some fever few from my garden just stuck in an old vintage tumbler

We love to use lots of ivy's in the store and also at home. Here this is an old french enamel washstand not used for washing any more, but a perfect spot for a California Ivy!

TEN YEARS IN BUSINESS!

This month we have been celebrating our tenth year in business in downtown Sumner. It has been such an intense ride always so busy with gathering one of a kind items and specialty pieces, cleaning, advertising, thinking about whats the next display is going to be etc.etc. I have not really ever taken much time to reflect back on what all my Business partner Kris and I have accomplished over the years until now. We have had some great times, made many wonderful friends , stayed up till the weeee hours of the morning redecorating the store, taken down Halloween one night and having the whole store full of Christmas the next day! It's been a labor of love, alot of blood, sweat and yes some tears, but I wouldn't trade any of it for the world. I am so fortunate to have been able to make a career and earn an income from what I love to do and am so appreciative to all who have helped make Today's Country Store a success. I do not know what the future holds, but I do know that the past has been a beautiful Present!

Wow is it just me or are the weeks just flying by? If it weren't for Wednesdays I probably wouldnt get any thing posted!

This is a big old white scale I have on my kitchen counter. I really don't know why I love it but I do.

This is a hat rack in my bathroom. I don't use it for hats just misc. bath stuff. I love it too!

Now this is kind of a special piece, even though it's not white and isn't anything I would set out and buy today, but 28 years ago when I was just a teeny bopper this was my very first antique purchase at the Midway swapmeet. Oh how many awesome things I found there, wish I could go back in time and buy it all!
I hung my ironstone pitchers on the hooks when I was getting ready for the last magazine shoot at my house. I was trying to find anything that would be cuter than my boys old dirty baseball hats.

This is a pretty ratty tatty old white photo album that I brought home from the shop, because it was getting ruined by too much touching, opening and closing etc. so I thought I should save it's little old life!

White Wednesday with the "Real" McCoy

Here are some white things I collect. With the last name Of McCoy I guess It was inevidable that I would start to collect the pottery that bears my name. I began collecting all colors of McCoy vases and planters, but have narrowed it down to just the creamy white. No surprise there!
