A renewed hope

What a day it was. I was able to watch the inauguration just long enough to hear Barack's speech before I had to head off to work. I left for work with a new bounce in my step and the feeling that all hope isn't lost! No matter what side your on , the electricity and chatter everywhere was positive and so renewing to me it made me feel like I could do anything I set my mind to! I wasn't sure if I would have much business at the shop if people were staying home watching all the coverage of the inauguration. As it turned out people started coming out around 11:00 and I ended up having the BEST day of the entire month! I've really always thought all I have is hope and the ability to work hard, never really knowing any other way. I've been working and on my own since I was 15 years old. I always have known there are no guarantees in life, that you have to stay one step ahead and not ever take too much for granted, but i too lost site of this along the way . I think we have all had a needed wake-up call. I believe for my childrens sake I did, they've never really gone without like I did, and I'm thinking maybe that's not such a good thing ,so now with times a little tougher they are realizing how much things cost and sometimes you have to budget to make ends meet. Ha what a novel idea!

Miracle on the Hudson

Today I felt like anything is possible, miracles really do happen.Im talking about the miracle on the Hudson River.I had goose bumps everytime the news came on about the plane that crashed. Story after story I had to stop what I was doing and listen.I still can't believe it and I bet all those passengers are just amazed to be alive! We have all been through so much lately, the bad news every day for weeks on end people losing their life savings, their jobs and their homes. It was our turn for a happy news headline and we all have that amazingly talented pilot to thank for giving us a day of hope in these somewhat hopeless times.

THANK YOU

WinterWonderland

Welcome to my winterwonderland. It does'nt snow too often at sea level, but this year we had a beautiful white Christmas. I didn't mind it too much except for the fact that my daughter had an extended vacation as the snow started falling 3days before break really was suppose to start. The kids had a blast and I had a cosmo! Then of course down here at sea level snow melts and rain starts to fall again, then the flooding comes, the mountains get over twenty inches of rain and 50Degree temps this means the Puyallup river that resides 6 blocks from my house is going over it's banks and for the first time in 22 years we get the "reverse 911 call to evacuate immediately!"Needless to say school was closed again, the kids had a blast ,and I had another cosmo!Thankfully just a few hours before the river was to crest at record levels it decided to reside, partly due to the poor folks down the road that took the "hit" for us when the water went over the banks in their town.
